Bon voyage to Billy

It’s a good bye to Billy as he leaves the official’s team.

It’s time for Billy to move on to other things. Previously a member of the Green team and a multiple league trophy winner. He joined the officials’ team after he was too old to play in Solihull Little League and has been running (strolling) the line for a number of years.

Now that he is studying coaching locally, he has joined the Wednesday training session to help bring out the best in the current crop of players. Everyone at Solihull Little League wishes him the best of luck in the future and looks forward to the day when he brings his own children through the gates.

Our preseason seniors open sessions are on the 21st and 28th of August at Hampton FC. Our seniors include years 5 to 8 in the coming school year. All are welcome to come along and have a go. Registration and team allocation take place in September. The open sessions start at 10:00 and will run for about 60 minutes Shin pads are a must. If you decide to join you will be allocated to one of our six teams.

Once the season begins there will be three matches on a Saturday between 9:30 and 12:30 with training at 18:00 on a Wednesday or Thursday. For more details about the league https://solihull-ll.co.uk/

Our Junior group covers years 2 to 4 in the coming school year. These are back on 4th September at 10:00. We offer 2 free trial sessions before registration is required.

Preseason matches

Under 13’s preseason matches open for new players.

Our preseason matches continued today, we are finally back at Hampton FC. Our seniors include years 5 to 8 in the coming school year. All are welcome to come along and have a go. Registration and team allocation takes place in September.

Our Junior group covers years 2 to 4 in the coming school year. Again we are running open sessions through August before registration is required in September.

We are at Hampton FC every Saturday from 10:00 to 11:30. If you would like to have a go come along and see Malcolm, Alan or Andrew.

Dear Parents

On behalf of SLL, we hope you and your families continue to stay safe and well.

We have had several enquiries recently concerning SLL football and we held a Committee meeting last evening, where we were able to arrive at an action plan designed to get the players back onto the football field.

As I am sure you are aware, under current guidance from the Football Association and Little League, we cannot arrange team games.

However, training sessions with supervision are permitted.

We are therefore planning to organise some training sessions for all ages during August on Saturday mornings and these will be conducted in strict accordance with current guidelines.

Unfortunately, we cannot use Hampton FC, as they are completing their annual ground maintenance programme, so we are looking at other local pitches.

The next step is to see how many of the players are available to participate in these training sessions and I would be most grateful if you can let me know if you are interested as soon as possible.

Once we have an indication of availability/numbers I will send you further information. These sessions are also open to any friends that your lad would like to bring along. All are welcome to join in.

You may only be available for some of the Saturdays, which is fine. The sessions are for the Managers and the boys to remember how to play the game!

Open days

PLEASE DON’T FORGET SHIN PADS IF YOU WANT TO PLAY IN THE MATCHES

Move away from the PS4 and put down those tablets. Come and join the rest of Solihull little league at Hampton FC. We have open days on the 7th and 14th September from 10:00 till 12:00. The open days and parking are free.

Parents can have a chat with Malcolm and learn all about what we do here each Saturday. While your 4 to 13-year-olds show off their footballing skills. All abilities are welcome with no selection process, everyone can join and will be given equal playing time. The only children’s competitive football on a Saturday open for all.

Breakfast sandwiches and hot drinks can be purchased from the clubhouse. Solihull little league is run by parents, ex-players and ex-parents we are always looking for more volunteers, come down and see. What have you got to lose?

Our first open day was a great success with perfect weather conditions for players and supporting families. Eleven new players signed up on the day. With some really positive feedback through a previous member and their friend.

Change to trial days

Unfortunately, we have been forced to change the planned recruitment dates. Over Spring Hampton FC have spent 10K on the pitches because of the recent weather Hampton FC aren’t happy for the ground to be used yet. Last night the committee changed the dates to 6th and 13th of July could you please pass this on to anyone you might have recruited. Hopefully, see you all next month.
